In celebration of South Africa’s Youth Month, Resultant Group launched several impactful initiatives aimed at empowering and inspiring the nation’s youth. These efforts were designed to bridge the gap between privileged and underprivileged communities by providing equal opportunities and learning experiences. The key events included a Career Day on June 15th and an IT and Coding Holiday Program from June 24th to July 5th.
On June 15th, Resultant Group hosted a Career Day at its headquarters for children from Kagiso and young ladies from a Johannesburg-based NPO. The event brought together professionals from various fields to showcase their careers and guide the kids on the steps necessary to achieve success in their chosen fields. The primary goal was to inspire young learners to focus on their studies and set high aspirations for their future. Professionals provided insights into their careers, detailing the educational and professional paths needed to succeed. Notable speakers, including Resultant Group’s Chief Executive and CEO, shared their journeys and offered motivational talks. Over 50 children attended the Career Day, gaining valuable exposure to various career options and receiving motivation to pursue their dreams.
From June 24th to July 5th, Resultant Group organized an IT and Coding Holiday Program for girls in grades 5 to 7 at a Johannesburg-based NPO. This two-week program focused on introducing the participants to robotics and digital literacy skills. In partnership with Young Engineers, a six-day robotics workshop was conducted, teaching the girls how to code and engineer devices. Computer Science students from the University of Stellenbosch facilitated sessions on digital skills, presentation skills, and the wise use of the internet. Fifteen young girls participated in the program, rapidly acquiring new future focused skills and demonstrating significant potential to contribute to the economy.
Resultant Group collaborated with various organizations to make these initiatives successful. Young Engineers conducted the robotics workshop, while the Computer Science students from the University of Stellenbosch volunteered to teach digital skills. Resultant Group employees played a crucial role in setting up the program agendas, organizing logistics, coordinating schedules, and ensuring the provision of food and drinks for the participants.
The primary challenge faced was the insufficient number of computers for the holiday program. This issue was mitigated by leasing additional computers and adjusting the program to facilitate computer sharing among the participants. This experience underscored the importance of flexibility and problem-solving in ensuring the success of such initiatives.
The local community responded positively to the initiatives, expressing gratitude and excitement for the opportunities provided to their children. Participants in the holiday program quickly picked up robotics skills, showing great potential for future contributions to the economy.
Resultant Group is committed to continuing and expanding its youth-focused initiatives. Plans are underway to establish a weekend program for underprivileged youth during the 2025 academic year. This program aims to reach more children and provide consistent quality education and experiences, furthering the company’s mission to close the gap between privileged and underprivileged communities.
These initiatives reflect Resultant Group’s dedication to fostering youth development and providing equal opportunities for all. By investing in the future of young learners, the company aims to inspire and equip them with the skills needed to achieve their dreams and contribute positively to society.
